Why I Won’t Be Trading My Dumbbells for a Shake Weight

The Shake Weight broke on the market as if it were shot from a cannon. It was marketed with a saucy infomercial and was quickly picked up by various TV shows and the video was made viral. Despite all that, the Shake Weight didn’t inspire me all that much. The moment I saw it I realized that I hadn’t found a real replacement for my dumbbells just yet.

The first clue came to me when I couldn’t find any real scientific evidence that suggested that the way this product worked actually delivered anything but meager results. I already know that regular weight lifting works. I needed proof.

The second clue was when I learned that the weight of the product was very low, either 2.5 lbs or 5 lbs. This seemed hardly enough to warrant any excitement and it was certainly not enough to really develop any muscles.

Finally, I know that working out with dumbbells provides a more complete workout experience, the kind that the Shake Weight simply can’t provide. This is why I’m not giving up on my dumbbells. No way.

What I was a young man I realize that I was not going to be among the tallest man in my area. At 5’9″, I’m just a little bit under what would be considered average height. I bought my granny a wool mattress topper for Christmas after she broke her hip. The nice Filipino nurse at the private hospital suggested it would make her more comfortable when she came home. She was right of course. I knew I would not be able to manage granny on my own. Apart from her broken hip she is a cantankerous old bag and I could not trust myself not to strangle her in the first week of her convalescence. The nice Filipino nurse, Constanza, suggested that she would be a good carer to come and live in with us until granny got better. She was right of course. We bumped granny off together after five days. Constanza said nobody would ever find out we had poisoned her, what with all the other drugs she was taking. She was right of course. We splashed out on a more luxurious wool mattress topper with granny’s inheritance. Constanza said it would make our adventurous bedroom games more bouncy. She was right of course.

I have been using the 10 Minute Trainer since December last year. I am really happy with it. This one is very good. It’s a fun workout. What I love about this is that it works. It really works.
